Showdown Supply did not start because I specifically wanted to launch an online store. It actually started out of frustration.
If you play Showdown, you quickly notice that finding good equipment is not always easy. You often end up searching around, asking questions in group chats, or trying to arrange things through personal contacts. And honestly: it should be much simpler than that.
At some point, I started wondering: why isn’t there a place where you can simply order your Showdown equipment independently and without hassle? No endless searching, no unnecessary complications, and most importantly: accessible to everyone.
That is how Showdown Supply was born.
Who I Am
My name is Gijs, I am 40 years old, and I have been blind since the age of 25.
Showdown has played an important role in my life for many years. I started playing in 2013, and over time it became much more than just “a sport I play.”
Since 2015, I have been actively involved in a Showdown club, including serving as secretary and treasurer. Through that experience, I got to know the sport not only as a player, but also from the organizational side: the people, the work behind the scenes, and the challenges involved in keeping things running.
Since 2022, I have also been involved in organizing an annual Showdown tournament, which in 2025 grew into a multi-day international event. Something I am honestly quite proud of, because it shows what is possible when people build something together.
Why This Webshop
Over the years, one thing kept coming back: finding good Showdown equipment is unnecessarily difficult.
And that is actually strange. It is a great sport with a growing community of players, yet the available equipment is scattered and often hard to find. Existing webshops are usually not specifically focused on our community and therefore are not always very accessible either. Especially when you are blind or visually impaired, you simply want things to work — without obstacles or unnecessary complexity.
That is why I created Showdown Supply.
This webshop does not exist because it looked like a good business idea on paper, but because I felt something was missing. A place you can rely on. A place where ordering equipment is simple and straightforward. A place where the sport itself comes first.
